Course Maps S

The North Face Dirty Feet Mountain Ultra at Sun Peaks Resort is a 50km race made up of 4 legs. The course will be changing for 2017 we will post the updated maps in the Spring. Each leg is a different loop with very different challenges. Total elevation gain and loss over the whole course is 6100 feet or just over 1860 meters

Leg 1 – Approx 10km – Village up to Mid Mountain.  This course will follow mountain bike trails from the base of Sun Peaks up to Mid Mountain. Elevation gain on leg 1 of the race is 730 meters or 2400 feet. Course description start from the main lodge and head across the covered bridge, take 2nd paved path to the left, right on Packhorse Climb, thru the first switchback corner then say straight at next junction, stay on wide path and run past Morrissey chairlift across a bridge then under a bridge and turn left onto paved paths that you will follow thru the village back to the start/finish area. From here use bike map and turn right on Root dog, Left on double wide trail to the gravel road, turn right, turn left on Smooth Smoothie, Stay on Smooth Smoothie until mid mountain.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leg 2 –  Approx 10km Around the Alpine trails – This leg of the race will stay high in the alpine with a wonderful climb to the Top Of The World then back to Mid Mountain to finish. Elevation gain and loss is 1800 feet or 550 meters. Course description start from mid mountain, on hiking map follow hiking trail #7 west  bowl trail, turn left on #11 Tod Peak Trail, continue to the top of Mount Tod, turn-around go back down and turn left on trail #11, pass the lake and continue to trail #9 Gil’s Trail, Left on road and head back to mid mountain chairlift.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leg 3 – Approx 15km Mid Mountain down to Village – This leg of the race will use the new XC down trails from 2012 and bring you down to the village via the XC ski trails. Elevation loss of 2800 feet or 850 meters. Course Description from Mid Mountain follow the road to the right use bike map and follow #8 Big Rock Ride trail, continue on this trail until you reach McGillivary FSR, turn left follow road, turn right on En Garde (nordic ski map), Right on Blue Grouse to McGillivray Lake Trail, Right follow to Sun Peaks Road Trailhead, turn right follow paved road thru P6 on to FSR, turn left and then right on Sundance drive take pathways to the left follow them out to the ski run/hill, turn down the hill past the Cahility Lodge to the village.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leg 4 – Approx 17 km Up and Down Mt. Morrisey – This leg of the race will climb up  Mt. Morrisey and back down using single track trails, double track XC ski trails and gravel access roads. The elevation gain and loss on this leg is 2000 feet or 610 meters. Course description head out from the village across the covered bridge same as leg one but once past the first swichback turn right up the hill and follow #5 Packhorse trail from xc bike map to the top, turn left on #6 Holy Cow, Stay on Holy Cow, turn right on Bruin Romp, left on Holy Cow, right on Lynx, Left on Great Grey, Left on Vista trail, Continue past the Morrissey chair then under the bridge and right onto paved pathways thru the village to the finish at the Clocktower.
