The North Face Dirty Feet Trail Run #3

Vernon – Kalamalka Provincial Park – Sunday July 17, 2011

A great day on Sunday for the North Face Dirty Feet trail run on the trails in Kalamalka Provincial Park. The clouds were low but the sun was on it’s way. Racers started to arrive at 7:30am to pick up their race packages so they could get ready for the race.

There were 3 different races, a 5km, 10km and Half Marathon (21km). With 200 runners altogether it was a great turnout for the North Face Dirty Feet Trail Run in Kalamalka Park. The third race of the Series but the first in Kal Park. The setting was amazing with a beach and lakefront made it a great place for a swim and a picnic after the race.

The trails in Kalamalka Provincial Park are a mix of double wide moderate pathways to single track with tricky footing. The 10km and 21km enjoyed a run past Cosens Bay beach on the lookout for snakes and bears.

The wall was quite the challenge for the 21km runners but then getting to the lookout and seeing forever was a much-deserved treat.

Congratulations to everyone who came out and enjoyed this day on the trails and ran your hearts out – you all did awesome!

A special shout out to our volunteers who came out bright and early to help out – you guys make the difference – a special thanks to Roz and Neil from Starting Block who volunteered to sweep and pull all the flags after the race this saved us 2-3 hours – thanks everyone.

Dirty Feet hopes everyone enjoyed the trails, the music, the atmosphere, the food and of course the great prizes from all of our sponsors. The North FaceValhalla Pure OutfittersEloadArcteryxProbarThe Starting Block (local running store), Mountain HardwearMontrailSOLENature’s Fare MarketsMenzies, and Your Gymbag.

We hope to see you at The North Face Dirty Feet Trail run #4 – the last trail run of the series. – September 25, 2011 in Kamloops BC.

Never done trail running before but I am thinking about doing the 5 or 10km. Any chance of getting a map of the course? I am not familiar with the trails at Kalamalka park but would love to check it out before deciding between the 5 or 10km.

What are the routes for the various distances? A group of us want to do this race but would like to know the routes. Also, do we receive shirts, medals, etc?
